The Grief that Comes with Growth

The Grief that Comes with Growth

by Shannon | Jan 31, 2019 | Abuse Recovery, Healing from Hidden Abuse, Quality of Life, Relationships

As a therapist, I work with people on a variety of topics that can range anywhere on the intensity spectrum. Some individuals want to work on setting and reaching personal development goals, while others seek me out because I’m a certified trauma therapist and they’ve...
A little sunshine and rain

A little sunshine and rain

by Shannon | Nov 21, 2018 | Abuse Recovery, Family, Friends, Quality of Life, Relationships

In each life, there will be sunshine and rain. In Texas, sometimes these two weather events happen at the exact same moment. I have taken my fair share of pictures with sunshine in the distance and dark thunderstorm clouds overhead. Life is often like Texas weather;...

Why The Church Won’t Recognize Abuse

by Shannon | Jan 17, 2017 | Abuse Recovery, Faith, Most Popular Blogs, Relationships

As a therapist and advocate who specializes in recovery from abuse, I have been witness to many stories of how survivors of abuse were treated by their church elders and pastors. I can tell you that some church leadership understands the complexities of domestic...
What is financial abuse?

What is financial abuse?

by Shannon | Aug 16, 2018 | Abuse Recovery, Healing from Hidden Abuse, Relationships

With the release of my second book in the Healing from Hidden Abuse series, Exposing Financial Abuse: When Money is a Weapon, I’ve received many questions about what exactly qualifies as economic exploitation and abuse. Little is written and even less is published on...
Afraid to Speak

Afraid to Speak

by Shannon | Nov 11, 2018 | Abuse Recovery, Healing from Hidden Abuse, Relationships

We are afraid to tell anyone. We are afraid to talk about the details. We are afraid of being blamed. We are afraid. Women have had horrendous things implied about them, said to them and done to them. Many of these actions were abusive and illegal. Yet, millions of...
Why Should Anyone Care About Financial Abuse?

Why Should Anyone Care About Financial Abuse?

by Shannon | Jul 4, 2018 | Abuse Recovery, Family, Healing from Hidden Abuse, Quality of Life, Relationships

With the release of the second book in the Healing from Hidden Abuse series, Exposing Financial Abuse: When Money is a Weapon, I have innocently been asked why this an important topic to cover. It’s a good question but one that, honestly, took me by surprise a...

© 2021 Southlake Christian Counseling | Good Faith Estimate

The “No Surprises Act of 2022” went into effective January 1, 2022 and requires all medical providers to give a Good Faith Estimate to new and current counseling clients who pay for services out of pocket. The hope of the new law is to limit billing surprises for patients. The services of Southlake Christian Counseling therapists are provided at either the session rates of $125 or $145 for one 45-minute appointment. The rate is determined by financial need and the license level of the therapist you are seeing. Southlake Christian Counseling is owned and operated by Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Shannon Thomas, and her National Provider Identification number is #1124262373. All services are in-person at 231 East Southlake Blvd, Suite #160 Southlake Texas 76092. Southlake Christian Counseling provides weekly outpatient mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. The Good Faith Estimate is only that, an estimate of current and future session fees, along with the duration of each counseling session. Advance notice of any fee increases will be given to help clients plan for a session rate change. If there are any questions or concerns regarding sessions fee charges, please first speak with your therapist, and if not resolved to your satisfaction, please contact Ms. Thomas at 817-897-8882. Any expressed concerns with session fees will not affect the quality of the therapeutic services you are receiving.  You can learn more about the “No Surprises Act of 2022” at  www.cms.gov/nosurprises  The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract but simply a statement of our current fees and expected length of services as it relates to the medical care you are receiving at Southlake Christian Counseling.
